Exploring Cincinnati....Part Four

Today we went to the Newport Aquarium!  It was the place I was most looking forward to, more than the zoo or the museums.  So....it's not in Cincinnati, but very close, just over the river on the Kentucky side.  It was a really pretty area, but nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get a parking spot without cash!  We ended up driving around forever trying to find an ATM that wasn't out of cash!  Enough of that :)

There were lots of fun things to see at this aquarium.  It not being our first aquarium visit, we couldn't help but compare it to the Dallas World Aquarium (which is awesome).  Just like Dallas, this aquarium had lots of different tanks representing different countries around the world, which is always cool to see.

It had lots and lots of sharks, which were awesome as well, and a really really long tunnel to watch them through (longer than Dallas).  Also, right before the exit you can watch the sharks from above the tanks which was fun too, especially since they had binoculars to look at them through.  Their big new thing was Mighty Mike, an 800 lb, 14 ft alligator.  He was really big, really close, and part of the aquarium I'd like to see again.  One thing this aquarium had that others haven't is an area to touch sharks easily.  I touched 3 different sharks!  I remember at Dallas getting to touch some river rays...but don't remember sharks.

Since we now have annual passes, I think we will be heading back soon....WITH cash in hand for parking!
